The general purpose spill kit, sometimes referred to as a maintenance spill kit is one of the most popular ranges that we sell. As its name suggests, it is a spill kit able to deal with a broad and general range of the most commonly used everyday fluids. With an extensive choice of both size and packaging, there is a spill kit to suit every need. Should you wish to build your own kit to your own specific requirements, please contact us
for a quote.
Colour coded in grey, the general purpose spill kit is designed for dealing with spillages of solvents, oil & fuels, non-corrosive liquids, common fluids and water based fluids. Most commonly used fluids fall into these categories. If you are unsure about a particular fluid you need to cater for, you can view our Selection Guide
for reassurance. It must be noted that a general purpose spill kit will absorb water and water based liquids. If your requirement is for a spill kit that repels water or water based fluids you should look at our Oil & Fuel spill kits.
Our kits come in a broad range of capacities capable of dealing with spillages from 15 Litres up to 1100 Litres in volume. The smaller sized kits 15 to 60 Litres
are all portable and can very easily be moved to the site of a spill. The mid-range 65L to 240L
and larger kits 250L to 1100L
offer some degree of portability but are mainly stored at static 'known' locations.
All spill kits come complete with absorbent pads and absorbent socks as well as a contents & instruction sheet and disposal bags & ties. As the kits get larger in size the number of contents in them will increase to include in some cases absorbent cushions and absorbent rolls. Some kits will include drain protection in the form of drain spill covers or drain seals. Other items included in the larger kits range from plugging compound for sealing splits or holes in drums or tanks, caution tape and the option of purchasing a plastic non-spark shovel to assist with the largest of spills.
The extensive range of general purpose spill kits from Spillshop come in a large variety of packaging. Most of the smaller kits come packaged in clip-close transparent bags with a convenient carry handle. These are highly visible and ideal for hanging on a wall to be quickly taken to a spill scene. Some of these kits come with a drip tray, a handy addition for catching leaks or placing saturated spillage components in. Another range available is for the kits to come supplied in a weatherproof cube or shoulder bag again making it easy to be transported to the site of a spillage. Our bin range covers kits from 65 Litres to 100 Litres and our wheeled bin range encompasses sizes of 100 Litres to 350 Litres. There are static lockers available from 125 Litres to 600 Litres with industrial wheeled bins housing the largest kits of 800 Litres and 1100 Litres.
Most of the range of general purpose spill kits come in highly visible (usually yellow) containers. All kits are further marked as 'general purpose' on the packaging.
